The forecourt lies between the Domestic and the international terminals. It is the undercover space you cross after check in to reach the international terminal, and for passengers landing in Australia it is the space you come into after you’ve collected your luggage. It is a gallery, a place to relax, a place to find your feet. Grab a coffee, a snack, a piece of local treasure and take some time out before heading to your transport.
Tourism Refund Scheme Window - TRS
At international airports you should arrive at the TRS facility at least 90 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time of your flight to ensure you have sufficient time to successfully lodge your TRS claim. As you leave the country, you must wear or carry the goods as hand luggage with you, unless the goods are oversized goods or liquids, aerosols and gels restricted to hold luggage for security reasons. The facility is situated in the International Terminal after passport control.
If you want to make a TRS claim for liquids, aerosols or gels, or oversized items that you are not able to take on board, take your goods to the TRS-branded window in the International Terminal forecourt prior to check in.
Further details on what you can or cannot claim a GST refund on is available at the Australian Border Force website:
Assistance Animals have a dog relief area in front of the domestic terminal.
Luggage trolleys are available free of charge from outside the terminal.
Smokers must stay within the clearly marked allocated smoking area.
