What has changed at Avalon because of the COVID-19 pandemic?

We have installed all sorts of helpful devices for when you return, and have created a handy page with all the information you need. Is PCR Testing available at the airport?

No, however there are testing facilities in nearby Geelong, Werribee and Melbourne.

Can I get a receipt for parking once I’ve left Avalon Airport?

Do you have to book for parking at Avalon?

No. We have plenty of space, so there's no booking.

How far away from the terminals is car parking at Avalon Airport?

The long term and short term car parks are right out the front of the terminals at Avalon - both in walking distance.

Is there a bus service at Avalon Airport?

Yes – SkyBus operates direct routes between Melbourne, Werribee and Avalon.

Are there wheelchairs for passenger use at Avalon Airport?

Yes, they are limited. You need to select the “Require Assistance” option upon booking your flight.

Is there accommodation at Avalon Airport?

Not currently. The Airport is open from 4am and closes at midnight. There is accommodation nearby in both Geelong and Werribee.

If flying out from Avalon, how soon before my flight do I need to be at the Airport?

Check in times are as follows:

Domestic Flights: Opens 2 hours prior & closes 30 minutes prior to departure
International Flights: Opens 3 hours prior & closes 1 hour prior to departure

How long does it take to get to Melbourne from Avalon Airport?

The trip takes roughly 50 minutes from Avalon to Melbourne CBD.
SkyBus, rideshare options, taxis and car hire are available.

Is there food available at Avalon Airport?

Yes, absolutely, although the menus will be limited at first when passenger flights resume, in order to help keep passengers and staff safe. Some cafes may also be closed.
Normally however 3thirds has full food and beverage services in the domestic and international terminals, and a smaller cafe for snacks at check-in. Food options include burgers, pizza, curries, stirfries, eggs done many ways and more.

Sure is. Aelia Duty Free is available in both departures and arrivals.

Does Avalon Airport have TRS (Tourism Refund Scheme) facilities?

Most definitely. Just make sure you have your receipts and items on you, and if you intend packing the item/s into your check-in baggage, then make sure it is seen by TRS officers before you check in.

Does Avalon Airport have free wifi?

Yes, in both terminals. On top of that we have many charging points for all your mobile devices - at workbenches right by the gate so that you don't have to move until it's time to board.

Where can you fly to from Avalon Airport?

Normally Jetstar flies between Avalon and Sydney, Adelaide and the Gold Coast, AirAsia flies between Avalon and Kuala Lumpur (and onwards to over 150 destinations), and Citilink flies between Avalon and Bali, Denpasar. With international and state border restrictions these have paused at the moment. We will update when they resume.
