Recommencement of flights from Avalon plus free car parking
Jetstar Australia announced last Friday 19 June that it would recommence flights between Avalon and Sydney and the Gold Coast from 15 July 2020, and is advertising amazing fares to celebrate.
The news of the recommencement of flights has been warmly received after a period of cancelled passenger flights due to the Covid-19 travel restrictions put in place throughout Australia in order to flatten the curve.
Avalon Airport CEO Justin Giddings announced soon after that car parking would be free from now until 31 August 2020, in order to further support people wanting to get back into travel.
“We know it’s a tough time for a lot of people,” said Mr Giddings, “and everyone’s itching to get back out and into the sky to go and see friends and relatives and have a holiday, and we hope that this makes Avalon even more affordable for you.”
Avalon has been upgrading recently in preparation for the resumption of flights, including the café, security technology and installing check in kiosks. Elenium touchless kiosks will soon be added to the mix and combined with standards such as extra cleaning, hand sanitiser stations and physical distancing systems, Mr Giddings is satisfied the airport will be ready to go.
“We’ve spent a lot of time and effort over the last few months preparing for post Covid-19 operations, and we look forward to seeing many of you back here soon,” he said.
As always anyone planning on travelling interstate should heed current travel restrictions and stay up to date as these change.
