Avalon Airport International Terminal Build
Anyone who has visited Avalon in the last couple of months has been aware of the new build at the airport - a more than 7000 square metre structure east of the domestic terminal that will soon house Avalon's international facilities.
The logistical planning behind such a build is naturally complex; including arrangements for current and future amenities such as water, power, sewage, car parking, roads and landscaping - well before a shovel touches the earth.
A team of around 150 people have been working so far on the build, from Avalon, Linfox and Qanstruct, from engineers to builders to compliance.
The aim is to keep current flights uninterrupted whilst working efficiently and consistently on the new infrastructure.
"The great thing about building a completely separate terminal is that it won't affect the domestic operations at all."
Avalon Airport CEO, Justin Giddings
By the end of the year AirAsia will fly twice daily direct to Kuala Lumpur from Avalon using this brand new complex, which will boast the latest state of the art customs facilities, and a simple, efficient and comfortable international terminal experience.
